Clinique Appoints Former Barbie Executive Krista Lee Berger to Lead Global Marketing

The Estée Lauder Companies has appointed former Mattel executive Krista Lee Berger as Senior Vice President, Global Marketing at Clinique.

Berger will lead the beauty brand’s global marketing strategy, with responsibility for strengthening its appeal to a new generation of consumers, supporting innovation and updating communications. She will report to Michelle Freyre, Global President, Dermatological Brands.

Freyre described Berger as “an inspiring leader who is globally recognized for transforming iconic brands into culturally relevant businesses”.

Berger was previously Senior Vice President and Global Head of Barbie & Dolls at Mattel, overseeing brand strategy, product innovation, licensing, partnerships, retail and entertainment across more than 100 markets. She also helped develop the global brand strategy behind Barbie The Movie.

Earlier in her career, she led American Girl’s turnaround, addressing its brand positioning alongside pricing, distribution and talent.

Her industry recognition includes Ad Age’s Marketer of the Year and 40 Under 40 honours, while Barbie You Create received recognition in TIME’s Best Inventions 2025.

At Clinique, Berger will work with regional and local teams worldwide to develop campaigns and support the brand’s growth. The appointment was announced on 19 October. www.elcompanies.com

Founded in New York in 1968, Clinique is sold in 107 countries, according to its parent company’s brand profile. Its origins lie in a collaboration between a beauty editor and a dermatologist, with a focus on developing skincare products supported by dermatological expertise.

The brand’s stated approach centres on straightforward skincare routines and formulations made without fragrance, parabens or phthalates. Its established products include Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+, which remains a prominent part of its skincare range.

The company’s website reports that a bottle of the moisturiser is sold somewhere in the world every seven and a half seconds, illustrating the international reach of a product associated with Clinique’s longstanding skincare business. The Estée Lauder Companies Inc.
