Couples tie the knot in style for a fraction of the cost at breathtaking Stockport wedding venue

A Victorian Stockport pub with its own dedicated wedding and private functions venue is proving a big hit with couples looking to tie the knot and save thousands of pounds on their wedding bill.

The Joshua Bradley on Stockport Road in Hyde has its own separate wedding venue on site. The Bluebell at The Joshua Bradley hosts around 15 functions each month including an average of five weddings. This year, the venue is on course to host more than 200 functions including more than 50 weddings – almost one every week. A wedding fayre is scheduled for 13 October.

The Bluebell opened in 2008 and is fully licensed to host wedding ceremonies and on the first floor mezzanine level, the Hayloft can accommodate civil services for up to 80 guests. The Bluebell suite holds 90 guests for wedding breakfasts and 120 for evening receptions, has its own entrance and bar and kitchen, private patio and garden, free parking and even an exterior bar.

Dedicated wedding co-ordinator Alice Frodsham is based at The Joshua Bradley and has over five years experience in ensuring couples have the perfect day. With over a decade spent working in hospitality, Alice is well placed to inspire guests with special touches or can work closely with them to create the day of their dreams.

Hydes brewery, owners of the Joshua Bradley and Bluebell suite since 2008, estimate that couples can save themselves as much as up to three times the cost of an average wedding.

Lottie Rossington, general manager of the Joshua Bradley and Bluebell suite, commented: “The average cost of a UK wedding is £24k with the venue cost alone being the biggest expense, costing around £8.5k.  The average cost for a full wedding at the Blue Bell is £7k for the full package, significantly less than the average wedding venue hire cost alone.

“The Bluebell suite offers everything a couple needs to have the perfect wedding. We have our own wedding co-ordinator based on site who manages the whole event from beginning to end and is always on hand to answer any questions and deal with any special requests, including on the big day itself. We can give every bride and groom a fantastic day to remember without compromising on quality, space, privacy or surroundings. We can tailor a comprehensive package to suit almost every requirement, providing an intimate and highly personalised service, designed to help couples maximise their budget, which is a key consideration during these economically challenging times.”

Managing director of Hydes Brewery, Adam Mayers said: “The Bluebell suite at the Joshua Bradley provides the ideal setting for a perfect wedding day. The Victorian surroundings of the Joshua Bradley present the perfect backdrop and contribute towards a memorable wedding celebration with real attention to detail. The team is first rate and very experienced, ensuring the whole day runs according to plan.”

Hydes, with its brewery in Media City, Salford, was formed in 1863 and supplies beers to wholesalers, pub companies and other brewers throughout the UK and a pub retailing estate of over 50 pubs across the North West of England and North Wales.
