On Test – Olpro’s new wearable ‘Blanko’ (the best Camping Accessory – Ever!)

Reviewed by Lisa Baker, Camping in Britain Editor

As a camping and caravanning nut and maybe the coldest person ever, I was delighted to be able to review OLPRO’s new Blanko.  As a menopausal fifty something who sways between freezing cold and hot flushes, and who loves the comfort of a blanket, I don’t think I have ever fallen in love with a product so fast and an hour after trying it, I’m still snuggled up in it at my desk with my heater off (and yes, I DO know it’s July) for the first time in over a week!

The OLPRO Blanko takes up very little space – even when photo bombed by Meg, our Frenchie!

So, what’s so great about the OLPRO Blanko?

Designed for all ages, the OLPRO Blanko is designed to keep you warm and comfortable during outdoor adventures, picnics and camping trips while keeping your hands free (or in my case, it’s also great when cwtched up on the egg chair in our garden gazebo, sitting out in the garden for a BBQ or indoors working at my desk too!)

Thick enough to be warm, but lightweight with a cosy fleece lining, the Blanko is crafted from high-quality, weather-resistant materials. Lined with plush Sherpa fleece on one side to keep you warm when the temperature drops, and the other a durable polyester, providing water resistance and windproof protection, it’s perfect for our somewhat changeable weather and for people like me who need to quickly throw it off if a hot flush hits!  It’s pack size is slightly smaller than a sleeping bag, and when not wearing it, it also makes a great picnic blanket or car boot liner.

The insulated design traps heat effectively, keeping you warm during chilly evenings and cold nights under the stars, but because it is lightweight, and your hands are free, it doesn’t get too warm and it easily lifts during hot flushes.

To wear it or to throw it over?

The OLPRO Blanko is very versatile and can be used simply as a traditional blanket, but it also has a hole for your head, like an armless oodie but with less weight and more freedom.  Blanko features loops and clips at both ends, which enables you to wear it as a cape, or snap it into sleeves, or wear it poncho-style.

For hard-core outdoor adventurers, being able to wear it as a cape means you don’t need to carry it on your nighttime trek, it’s lightweight and it won’t make you overheat when wearing it to walk –  while enabling you to snuggle up cosily on your favourite chair when you get to your spot, and leaving your hands free to take selfies under the stars!

The OLPRO Blanko is perfect for any and every adventure, perfect for picnics, BBQ’s, beach outings, camping trips, and outdoor events and is available in two attractive designs.

It’s also perfect for snuggling up on the sofa (or egg chair!) or to use as a handy throwover when working from home at your desk and the temperature suddenly dips.  I’m guessing readers have already gathered that is where mine is going to get a lot of use!

I’m also pleased to hear that OLPRO designed it with easy maintenance and long-lasting durability in mind.  The Blanko is machine washable, pop it in, air dry it and it’s all ready for the next time you need it.  Definitely good news because I won’t be parted from mine any time soon!
