Have you just moved into a new home or are looking to spruce up your bedroom? One of the best ways to make your room feel cozy and inviting is by adding a duvet. But with so many different types of duvets out there, it can be hard to know which one will work best for you. That’s why we’ve put together this list of our favourite duvets—and why each one is great for every type of sleeper!
Duvets filled with Polyester
If you live in a hot climate, polyester is likely the right choice for you. The synthetic fabric is known for its ability to keep you cool in warm temperatures—and it’s also easy to care for!
If your bedroom tends to be on the cooler side, however, wool or cotton duvets might be better suited for your needs. While these natural fibers are more expensive and harder to care for than their synthetic counterparts, they’ll provide greater warmth at night and are much softer (though not quite as soft as silk).
Feather duvets are the lightest and warmest of the three types of duvets, but they are not ideal for allergy sufferers. Feathers can trigger an allergic reaction in some people, so if you already suffer from severe allergies or asthma, then this may not be a good option for you.
However, if you’re keen on a feather duvet and don’t suffer from allergies or asthma then they can be very beneficial as they trap heat well and keep your body warm at night. They are also highly breathable which means that they’ll regulate your temperature better than other types of fillings too!
Wool is a natural material that is breathable and hypoallergenic, making it a great option for those with allergies. Wool is also long-lasting, durable, and easy to care for.
Wool duvets are lightweight but warm; they provide a comfortable night’s sleep thanks to their natural insulating properties.
Many people think wool doesn’t get hot enough in bed—but we’ve found just the opposite! The best thing about our wool duvets? They stay cool even when they’re warm outside (and vice versa). If you tend to run hot while you sleep instead of cool like most people do (or if your partner does), then this might be exactly what you need!
Wool duvets are much thinner than their feather or polyester equivalents and it took us a while to get used to ours – which is Fogarty Wool All Seasons Duvet from Dunelm. They tend to be more comfortable, my husband went and bought a Polyester one in protest, because he thought it was ‘weird’ – but after one night’s sleep he wanted to go back to the wool one and we haven’t looked back since!
